  1. Are there any Super 14 Rugby Spreadsheets available (2007)

  2. It’s not 100% but odds are that there will be.

    Check back today or tomorrow.

  3. Is it me, or does your six nations spreadhseet not actually work? The overall points column updates along with the teams position in the table. Bonus points simply mirrors the overall points and everything else remains blank.

  4. ….and another thing, afaik, there are no bonus points in the six nations

  5. Hey thanks Phil.

I’ll have a look at them this weekend.

Rugby isn’t my most well known sport by any means, I’ve only made these spreadsheets at the request of other users.

Thanks for letting me know about the errors.

    Cheers

  6. Phil

I have now updated the Six Nations spreadsheet.

It will be uploaded later today.

    Once again thanks

I have tried your Cricket World Cup spreadsheet, but I cant seem to get it working. Is there a problem or am I doing something fundamentally wrong.

    Norman

  8. Hi Norman

I’ve check the Cricket World Cup spreadsheet and it seems to be working fine.

I have put some ‘example’ data into the the group A tab.

If there is still a problem please let me know.

    Aaron

  9. Hi Aaron

Thanks for that. I was missing the codes for the two teams. It looks great now.

    Cheers

    Norman

  10. Aaron,

Regarding the World Cup Cricket spread sheet, it looks great.

The only problem is, if a team wins a match by chasing a score, it still gives the result in runs instead of wickets.

For e.g., in the sample tab you have populated, if SCO have scored 100/9 in 40.0 overs and AUS have got 101/1 in 10.0 (not that I am saying they will), the result comes up as Australia have won by 1 run, instead of 9 wickets.

    Eze Pze

  11. Hey Eze

Will look at this issue soon.

    Aaron

  12. Hey Eze

I have re-uploaded the Cricket World Cup spreadsheet with the details of how you would input the results if the situation you suggested above happened.

If you have any problems don’t hesitate to let me know

    Aaron

  13. Regarding the Cricket World Cup Wallchart
Very well made spreadsheet but i noticed a slight fault.
When filling out the Super 8′s scores, the table doesnt update until every single super 8 game is finished.

  14. I’ll have a look at it over the weekend

  15. Love your work, gagging for the World Cup Rugby spreadsheet!

  16. I have found and fixed the problem with the Cricket World Cup spreadsheet for the Super 8 round.

    Cheers!

btw – the Rugby World Cup spreadsheet will be released shortly.

  17. Hi,

There is a problem with the ICC Cricket World Cup spreadsheet. The rules of Super-eight have not been added correctly. According to ICC rules for this world cup, the teams in super8 will be classified according to their ranking/seeding decided prior to start of the world.

Example: In group A, the ranking is 1. Australia, 2. South Africa 3. Scotland, 4. Netherlands. Now, even if South Africa is ahead of Australia in the league stage, it will still be team A2 in the super8 and Australia will be A1.

You need to incorporate this into the spreadsheet. Check out this link for further details:

    HP

  18. Hey HP

I have read through the relevant section of the Wikipedia article. I have no reason to disagree with it. I constructed the spreadsheet from the ICC’s Playing Conditions which are available on its site. It said and still does say nothing of this.

However, I have adjusted the spreadsheet and the new version will be uploaded shortly after the completion of the West Indies and Pakistan game.

Am I missing something, but how do I get the Cricket World Cup to update after I’ve entered some results and the game has been played ?

  20. Hi Aaron

I’ve downloaded the spreadsheet, however when I’m trying to put the result in for the Australia v Scotland match it doesn’t update saying who has won and it doesn’t update on the summary sheet.

    Anything I’m doing wrong?

    Richard

  21. Hey

I will look into the issue tonight.

All I can say at the moment is that it does update for me no problems but I will have a play around with it and see if I can find an issue.

    Aaron

  22. Howdy

I’ve had a good look at the Cricket WC spreadsheet and have also tried it on a number of computers and they have all been calculating fine.

My only suggestion would be to check that you have automatic calculations selected in the settings for Excel.

    Aaron

  23. Hi Aaron,

The Cricket World Cup Spreadsheet is great and it’s much appreciated.

I think I may be able to answer the question a few have posed about the spreadsheet not recalculating as I had the same problem! They need to enter the code for the country in the column to the left of the wickets down for the match. e.g. On the group A sheet, enter AUS to the left of the 6 for 334 and SCO below it next to the 9 for 131 and so on.

Also, for the person who asked about the margin of victory, you have to enter the result of the team which batted first on the top line for the match.

The only thing I have noticed is that the NRR is not calculating correctly for some countries. With all the results entered up to Sunday night, the spreadsheet shows the following anomolies (published NNRs in brackets):

    AUS 4.04 (4.32)
    SCO -3.42 (-4.06)
    IRL 0.07 (0.27)
    PAK -0.65 (-0.84)

All of the others are correct. The IRL/PAK stats may be to do with the strange rules surrounding NRR calculations when Duckworth/Lewis kicks in, but the AUS/SCO game wasn’t a D/L result. I did enter the revised total of 128 and available overs to 47 for the IRL/PAK game.

Just a minor thing and certainly not a criticism. I want you to know that your work on this much appreciated, especially as you are doing this for free!

    Cheers mate.

    Andrew.

  24. Hey Andrew

Thank you very much for the indepth report of the error.

It is my fault as I didn’t really put any instructions on how to enter the correct data.

I will have a good look into the issue of incorrect NRR when I get home tonight. It’s usually something minor that is quick to fix.

    Cheers

    Aaron

  25. Hey

I’ve had a good look into the issue.

It does seem to be a coding issue. I look into it soon and will post an update to the site.

    Aaron

  26. Cheers Aaron,

I don’t usually take much notice of NRRs, but it looks like a couple of groups may actually be decided by it due to the shock results so far in the tournament.

If Zimbabwe beat Pakistan, the Windies v Ireland game will be a tense affair!

    Andrew.

  27. Hi Aaron:

I downloaded your spreadsheet today and put in some dummy games in Groups A and D to see how your spreadsheet worked out the Super 8 Stage. It still doesn’t handle this properly. Like HP said above, Australia is A1 and South Africa is A2… this doesn’t change if South Africa gets more points or tops the group.

The first Super 8 game on 27 March is between the WI and AUS but your spreadsheet is showing me Ireland vs. SA.

  28. Hey Aaron

Firstly many thanks for such a concise spreadsheet, it’s great.

Just a quick question, what data do we need to enter into the revised target cell when the D/L method is used. I’ve found simply entering the new run target ie. 186 or something, it has no effect on the final result of the game.

Probably missing something obvious but can’t see it

    Cheers mate

    DH

  29. Hey Aaron
i have edited my copy of your cricket world cup spreadsheet in terms of colour so its easier on the eye.
I was simply wondering if that when you edit the format of the Super 8′s (so the fixtures are correct), you could add it to my version as well.
Obviously i have to respect how lengthy the process is, but its simply because mine takes some time to keep changing colours to something that suits me.
    cheers

  30. Hi Aaron,
great Cricket World Cup spreadsheet, but could you fix the problem whereby there’s a fault if SA finish above Australia in the group stage?

    Thanks buddy

  31. Aaron great cricket spreadsheet – I’ve learnt so much from how you did it thanks a lot.
